EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WANTED TO LEAD POTATO SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE

The Executive Director will direct and manage the Potato Sustainability Initiative, an innovative, growing collaboration of North American potato buyers, processors and growers initiated in 2010 to continuously improve all aspects of sustainable potato production.

“Participation in the Potato Sustainability Initiative is a systematic approach to demonstrate to our customers and consumers that the food we are producing is being grown in a sustainable manner,” reports Vernon Campbell, who grows potatoes at Mull Na Beinne Farms, his family operation located on Prince Edward Island in Canada. Campbell serves on the Potato Sustainability Initiative governance council along with other grower and processor representatives.

The collaboration includes more than 500 growers, McDonald’s, Sysco, the National Potato Council, the Canadian Horticulture Council, Basic American Foods, Cavendish, Kraft Heinz, McCain Foods, Lamb Weston, Simplot and the IPM Institute of North America. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the governance committee and the IPM Institute director to set and implement strategy; manage key participant and vendor relationships; develop, maintain and meet timelines and budgets; ensure cost-efficient operations; and direct and manage an internal support team to ensure operational excellence and continue to grow impacts and membership including financially supporting members.
