John’s tips:
A great online resource for weekly fruit growing updates is Cornell’s Scaffolds Fruit Journal. You can find the journal at http://www.nysaes.cornell.edu/ent/scaffolds/. The last journal had articles on honey bee colony collapse and degree days.
Following up on a question from last week’s call, John called Spectrum Technologies and learned that a wetness threshold of 6 is probably best for scab.
Conversation Topics:
1. Comparing data between two different spectrum data logger models placed in the same tree.
2. Applying Serenade
3. Addressing the wide range of possible application rates for people using backpack sprayers
4. Trapping and identifying Oriental Fruit moth
5. Applying oil
Also, John is looking for growers who are willing to send him their degree day data. He wants to compare the data of different regions and post the comparisons on Apple Talk. Contact John at (608)538-3192 if you would be willing to help him with this.
