Preliminary Employment Opportunity Notice: NIFA National Program Leader for Plant Pathology

In the next few weeks, the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) will release a vacancy announcement for the position of National Program Leader for Plant Pathology. NIFA will be looking for candidates who are competent in their science, skilled at planning and evaluation, experienced at forming strategic partnerships, and capable in all facets of communication. The person hired for this position will influence the advancement of the science by helping to determine agency investments in plant pathology and coordinating the efforts of scientists throughout the United States. He or she will provide strategic direction for NIFA activities and initiatives that support the agricultural enterprise and will provide agency-wide leadership for the development, coordination, reporting, and evaluation of the agency’s programs in plant pathology and related areas of plant health and protection.

The National Program Leader for Plant Pathology will be a full-time, permanent GS-13/14/15 level position located in Washington, DC. The position will be open to all U.S. citizens. Applicants will be required to have an education and experience in plant pathology and related agricultural disciplines such as integrated pest management, entomology, weed science and/or crop production systems.
