Job Opportunity: Outreach Specialist, Pesticide Safety Education Program

The Pesticide Safety Education Program is seeking candidates for an open Outreach Specialist position.  The Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) is a 100% self-supporting program based at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Both federal (U.S. EPA) and state (IL. Dept. of Agriculture) regulations mandate that educational opportunities be provided for the certification of commercial and private applicators and operators.  For more than 35 years, the University of Illinois has provided this training through the Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP).  Currently the program team consists of five full-time academic professional trainers (Extension Specialists, Pesticide Safety Education), one full-time program coordinator, and one full-time program coordinator assistant.  Each year, the PSEP team coordinates and conducts all the commercial and private pesticide clinics throughout the state.

The primary function of the position is to work as part of an interdisciplinary team to prepare educational materials and conduct training clinics to support the pesticide safety training programs for state licensing requirements. Job duties include conducting training clinics to support the Pesticide Safety Education Programs for state licensing requirements for both private and commercial applicators, providing leadership regarding proper use of equipment and techniques for safe and accurate application of pesticides, developing educational programs and materials, and more.  For more information or to apply, please visit our jobs page posting.
