Job Opportunities: Tenure Track Positions in Entomology and Soil Ecology, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is looking to fill two tenure track positions in Entomology and Soil Ecology.

The first position is for an Assistant Professor of Entomology with preferred emphasis on integrated pest management, insect agroecology, and/or biological control. The University is seeking a candidate who will complement the strengths of current departmental faculty in the Biology Department and in the School for Earth, Environmental, and Marine Sciences working on food and agriculturally important problems in the region.

The second position is for an Assistant Professor of Soil Ecology with emphasis on soil fertility and health to help build a growing academic program in sustainable agriculture and resilient food systems. The University seeks a candidate who will complement the strengths of current faculty in the School and at UTRGV who are working on food and agriculturally- or environmentally-important issues in the region and beyond. Other federally-funded faculty are involved in more fundamental research on plant molecular biology and plant pathology.

For both positions, the candidate will work with several faculty who are also involved in collaborative research with local USDA agencies, as well as with local area farmers, providing numerous opportunities for collaborative mission-oriented research. Applicants with evidence of effective interdisciplinary collaboration and applied research experience will be strongly considered.

For more information, check out the job postings at UTRGV’s site here (Entomology) and here (Soil Ecology). Both of these positions are open until filled.
